Just got back yesterday and miss waking up to the islands and water view. The hospitality from Brett and Leah was amazing and this was also showcased by the brilliant staff working there to make sure clients are well looked after. Plus the foundation and profits made to go to the community is very noble and refreshing that there's a bigger picture view here of humanity. Maryanna, Jenny, Sam, Patrick plus many more great people to acknowledge, you're all great. Our kids enjoyed their time there too from all the water play to kayaking with turtles to the horse rides and even helping the kitchen staff prep our dinner, was gold. Thanks for the great time and look forward to returning to relax again one day.

Ratua is fantastic, the food is just delicious & cooked perfectly. The staff are incredibly attentive & friendly. The location & surrounds are truly a tropical getaway. The accommodation speaks for itself . Do yourself a favour & at least spoil yourself at least once here!!!!

This is a truly magical place. The buildings are reconstructed homes over 200 years old with finely detailed wood carving. The furniture is an eclectic collection of many periods and styles from all over the world - items that have made their way to the Pacific. The snorkeling and paddling is supurb. Food is locally sourced and fresh as can be.

What were my expectations? A tropical paradise, peace and tranquillity with option of adventure for our 2 teenage sons. A hideaway to allow us to disconnect in beautiful, comfortable, non-pretentious surroundings. To reconnect with nature. Let me just say that our expectations were exceeded in every way. I arrived with a flutter of excitement and left with tears in my eyes. Without giving away too much about the destination, I can say that the welcome and genuine warmth we were met with on arrival was a constant throughout our stay. The accommodation was gorgeous, rustic and uniquely decorated, spacious and well appointed. Understated luxury. We rolled out of bed each morning for a dip in the ocean and spent the day…… Actually, no, best not to tell. There is so much to say about Ratua but it’s best not to know too much as the delight and surprise of a new destination is part of the adventure of travel. Suffice to say, there is ample adventure if that’s what you wish; or simply soak up the tranquillity of this small slice of paradise. I arrived pretty wound up and found that my tired soul was rejuvenated in the most beautiful, almost wild and zen like setting, and my heart was warmed through by the genuine and beautiful people. We arrived as strangers and as corny as it sounds, we left bidding farewell to friends. Without sounding too hippy, I felt cleansed by the time I left. Forget makeup, hair dryers and smart shoes. Take off your armour and reconnect with people and nature. What made it so uniquely special? The people. The involvement of the people and guests; the feel-good factor that your stay is aiding a worthwhile foundation, the serenity, the beauty, the connection with nature and the welcome lack of some unnecessary mod cons such as air con, WiFi (in the rooms) and televisions. We live in such fast paced, judgemental and often pretentious lives. In Ratua let we let our hair down, we took down our guard, we walked barefoot all day, we swapped our watches for shell bracelets, we laughed and we danced with the locals, the guests and the owners. After being home a couple of months, what is it that remains after a stay at Ratua? I close my eyes and remember sitting at the water’s edge, directly in front of our villa, of the gentle breeze passing through the trees, of the waves quietly lapping the shore, the far-off blue horizon, a feeling of peace and, unusually, a feeling of being home.... Ratua will remain a place in my heart.
